Letters To A Friend is a musical offering to a very dear friend, Alessia Pugliatti, who passed away on Dec. 31, 2016 of Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma, a cancer that affects 1 in every million people. Alessia was my roommate and took me in as a sister when I lived in Venice from 2001-3. Among many things, she was a singer, an avid fan of Brazilian culture, an organizer for the Portuguese Pavilion at the Venice Biennale and an advocate for African immigrants living in Venice. This piece was made possible by a grant from San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music. The program will also include Narayana's Cows by Tom Johnson narrated by Pamela Z and pieces by Eric Wubbels and Ken Ueno.
