Sculpting Air Workshop: Medieval & Modern Vocal Improv I - cancelled

WORKSHOPS CANCELLED: Dear Friends,

It is with regret that due to back injury Theresa and Karen need to CANCEL this week's Sculpting Sound Workshops 1 & 2 (Nov. 7th & 11th). We were so looking forward to being with you. Our goal of introducing to you vocal improvisation and vocal freedom in modern and medieval music remains and we will reschedule for a future date.

As you may know, we were also looking to inspire interest and raise funding for our upcoming January 18, 2019 concert– Vajra Voices with Kitka– in Grace Cathedral. The Eve of the March, will feature medieval music, Georgian folk music, and, the premiere of Theresa’s composition, To Burst To Bloom on six poems of the 12th century woman Immortal, Sun Bu’er.

We want to say just how much your interest in these workshops and in our work mean to us. We were really looking forward to spending this evening and Saturday with you to contemplate the ancient poems and explore vocal resonance through them.

We appreciate your continued support. Please look for our upcoming notices regarding an alternate date. And, please also SAVE THE DATE of Friday, January 18, 2019, 7:30pm in Grace Cathedral.

Sincerely,

Karen R. Clark
and Theresa Wong

Vajra Voices director, Karen Clark and composer/cellist/vocalist Theresa Wong present two workshops around the music and poetry of the 12th century mystic Hildegard von Bingen; and the Chinese Taoist Immortal, Sun Bu’er. Karen Clark will teach a chant by Hildegard von Bingen; Theresa Wong will lead a vocal improvisation, in sculpting sound on a poem of Sun Bu’er. Inspired by the strength and power of wisdom inherent in mysticism, we invite you to join us in a process of discovery to resonate, express, and create.
